Issue 43 | Newsletter

Hello from Enviro-Mark Solutions!

Well, what an up-and-down time we’ve had since our last newsletter!

Globally, efforts have been focussed on taking account of carbon emissions at the International Conference of the Parties in Marrakech (COP22).  As the first meeting since the historic “Paris Agreement” was ratified, generally it was agreed there is still a lot of work to do – finance, adaptation fund, and facilitative dialogue are just a few of the big topics beginning to be tackled.

Closer to home, New Zealand has been rocked by another big earthquake, a magnitude 7.8 near Kaikoura. This has severely impacted the region and communities further afield. Our thoughts are with the people, families, communities and organisations who have been affected.

In the midst of all this, we have been trying to focus on waste. We did a round-up of Recycling Week on our Facebook and Twitter feeds if you missed out. We have a number of waste-specialists in our member family including 3R and Reclaim. See our tips on recycling below.

Lastly, some good news! A number of our members were celebrated as green champions at the NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards. Congratulations to the winners Ecotricity, NZ Bus and Air New Zealand. Energy and Technical Services, Scion (Crown Research Institute), Flick Electric Co., and Fonterra were highly commended for their efforts. Congrats are also due to solarcity; their solarZero service won at the annual Sustainable Electricity Association New Zealand awards. Well done everyone!

In this issue discover exciting recycling and circular waste stream developments, a special report on COP22 from one of the New Zealand Youth Delegates, and a range of other inspiration. Enjoy.
