Issue 44 | Newsletter

Hello from Enviro-Mark Solutions!

Well it is very exciting to be back for our first edition of the newsletter in 2017 – Happy New Year to all our members and readers!

It’s the time of year for new year resolutions. You may have thought about, and possibly not yet started, your new year resolutions. Hopefully you’ve got some environmental ones on your list. There’s a great article on employee engagement in the newsletter that could inspire and in the Links, Bits and Pieces there is a link to ideas from 2degrees.  But, what about this for an easy one… spread the word about sustainability! Why not forward this newsletter to your friend, family or colleague and get them to subscribe for a regular dose of environmental inspiration?

Did you know that the United Nations have declared 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development? They want to ensure that tourism is a part of the sustainability conversation. We are a company of travellers here at Enviro-Mark Solutions with our team hailing from all over (New Zealand, UK, Australia, USA, Chile, and China). One of our team recently tripped around the North Island, measuring their carbon footprint along the way, so they can offset their journey and have a carbon neutral honeymoon. What sustainable holidays do you have planned this year? Let us know. Wanting somewhere sustainable to stay? YHA Hostels, Sudima Auckland Airport and Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley Resort and Spa are carboNZero certified, and CQ Hotels Wellington is Enviro-Mark Bronze certified. What about something sustainable to do? Why not visit ZEALANDIA (read the article in this edition to find out more), Auckland Zoo, Wellington Zoo, Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony, Rotoroa Island, Auckland Museum, MOTAT, Kauri Museum, Otago Museum, or talk to Bush and Beach about going on a tour. Know of a tourism company you’d like to see certified? Tell them to get in touch.

As usual, the newsletter is bursting. For carbon members there’s new technical requirements. For Enviro-Mark members, check out the new checklists. For everyone, read about how to utilise your best assets to improve your environmental performance – your employees!
